The Howards

About Our Pastor

Thomas Howard became our pastor on February 7, 2016. Pastor Howard was raised in a Christian home, and accepted Christ at the age of 12 while on the mission field of Australia. He accepted God’s call to preach as a teenager, but then ran from the call and pursued a secular degree. He graduated with a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Tulsa in 2004 and accepted a government job in Maryland upon graduation. Upon arrival in Maryland, he became involved at OBC, and again accepted God’s call to preach under the preaching of OBC’s former pastor, George Shafer. He entered the ministry in 2006 when he joined the staff of OBC as an assistant to the pastor after leaving the government job that brought him to Maryland. He is a product of the Odenton Baptist Bible Institute, and was ordained by the church in May of 2009. Pastor Howard served as an assistant pastor in Claremore, Oklahoma, and then as the pastor of a church plant in Orwell, OH, before returning to OBC in October of 2015. While attending the University of Tulsa, Pastor Howard met his wife Annie at Eastland Baptist Church, and they were married in June of 2004. God has richly blessed their family with eight children – Eva, Emma, Elena, Nate, Ellie, Erriana, Zeke, and Gabe (who arrived in May of 2016). It is remarkable to see the hand of God in bringing the Howards back to Odenton. Pastor Howard and his family are thrilled to call Odenton home, and they are excited to be a part of what God is doing here.
