Ephesians 3:21 "Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."
Odenton Baptist Church is a Scriptural, Historic, Fundamental,
Independent Baptist Church located in Odenton, Maryland and ministering
to its nearby areas including Fort Meade, Severn, Crofton, Glen Burnie,
Columbia, Jessup, and neighboring communities. Founded in February of
1967, Odenton Baptist has been carrying out the Great Commission of our
Lord and Saviour for 40 years, as only a local church can do.
Odenton Baptist Church does not attempt to please or entertain men, but
endeavors to please God in doctrine and practice. Our worship services
are not contemporary, but are based on age old principles including God
honoring music, preaching the word of God, and ministering to the soul
and spirit rather than to the emotions and flesh.
The pastoral staff of OBC includes Senior Pastor George Shafer, Youth
Pastor Nathan Starr, and Assistant Pastor David Jett, Jr. Pastor Shafer
is the third pastor of Odenton Baptist Church, taking responsibility for
this ministry in the Summer of 2002. He was formerly on staff at Anchor
Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pastor Starr spent five years on
staff at Beeville Baptist Church in Texas before moving to Maryland in
the Spring of 2005. He is a graduate of Fairhaven Baptist College.
Pastor Jett is a native of Maryland who was saved, discipled, and
trained at Odenton Baptist Church. He has been on staff for the past
four years.
Odenton Baptist Church stands firmly upon the truth of the King James
Bible and the importance and pre-eminance of the local church. It also
stands in opposition to humanism, worldliness, new evangelicalism,
ecumenism, inter-denominationalism, and the modern day Charismatic
movement. OBC is completely unaffiliated and does not participate in or
submit to any convention, fellowship, association, or group. Our church
is entirely autonomous and answers to the Lord Himself and to Him alone.
Odenton Baptist Church has a large day school ministry (Odenton
Christian School – www.OCS1.org) and has been actively involved in
Christian education since 1977. Our school has a staff of nearly 50 and
a student body of just under 400.
OBC supports over thirty foreign and home missionaries including the
Leemon and Lacombe families who are sent out by OBC to the nation of
Thailand. It is our desire to support only those missionaries sent out
by their local church, with no intervention by a missions agency or
board. Our church’s ministries include bus, children’s club, choir,
rescue mission, Bible Institute, Spanish ministry, Summer camp, Youth
group, and vacation Bible school.
Please take the opportunity to browse our web site and enjoy the variety
of audio sermons and lessons, Sunday School outlines, missionary
reports, and other great media. Better yet, join us this week for
worship services on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. (Sunday School), 11:00 a.m.
(Worship Service), 6:30 p.m. (Evening Worship Service) or on Wednesday
at 7:00 p.m. (Prayer Meeting).
Finally, and most important of all, if you have never received the Lord
Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, repenting of your sins
and trusting on His blood which was freely shed on the Cross at Calvary,
please take time to read our site and find the answers that can save
your soul by calling upon Him to be your Saviour.
Thank you for visiting. We trust we will be a blessing to you as we seek
to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we do.
